Usefulness of MDCT in Postoperative Evaluation of Stomach Cancer

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose: We evaluated the usefulness of 64channel MDCT to diagnose the local recurrence after operation of stomach cancer.
Materials and Methods: The CT findinds of 237 patients who underwent follow-up study with 64channel MDCT after operation of stomach cancer were compared with the findings of endoscopy and tissue biopsy. We evaluated the thickness and enhancement pattern of postoperative stomach wall axial and coronal images and decided the better image to conclude the diagnosis.
Results: The number of recurrence of operation site, gastritis and normal were 10, 100 and 127 respectively. The thickness of wall of remnant stomach were 1.8cm(1.4-2.0) in recurrence and 1.2cm(0.6-2.1) in gastritis . The degree of enhancement at the site of recurrence was higher than at the site of gastritis. The axial images were better in 18cases, the coronal images were better in 108cases and both images were similar in 111cases.
Conclusion: The coronal image in 64channel MDCT was useful in the evaluation of postoperative stomach wall.
